International Six Metre Class Honoured with Prestigious Société Nautique de Genève Annual Regatta at Sea
Six Metre Worlds Entry Numbers Booming
The International Six Metre Association (ISMA), whose 2015 World Championship will be hosted from 29 May to 5 June by the Société Nautique de La Trinité Sur Mer, is honoured to announce that it has also been awarded the Société Nautique de Genève’s highly prestigious Annual Regatta at Sea.
The Annual Regatta at Sea is one of yachting’s most prized events and is awarded each year to a class that, in the opinion of the Société Nautique de Genève, exemplifies the highest standards in yacht racing and race management. This year the Six Metres will race this prestigious event from 30 to 31 May, with the Société Nautique de La Trinité Sur Mer providing race management support to Société Nautique de Genève for the regatta.
With some 40 boats from across Europe, the USA and Canada already registered the competition for both the Annual Regatta at Sea and the World Championship will be fierce and spectacular in equal measure. The fleet will, as always, incorporate both the cutting edge Modern Sixes and the elegant Classic Sixes. Entries can still made until Wednesday 13 May and late entries may be submitted after this date, but will be subject to a premium of Euro 150.
As well as a bumper entry list, the event has also attracted a large number of partners, whose generous support enables a regatta of the highest caliber both afloat and ashore. Sponsor Partners confirmed to date include exclusive jewelry company Arthus-Bertrand, technical clothing supplier Musto, producer of unique cutlery inspired by the sea Neptunia, Hine Vintage Cognacs, Auray Quiberon Terre Atlantique, La Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan, Le Conseil Général du Morbihan, La Marie de La Trinité sur Mer, Le Port de La Trinité sur Mer and La Région Bretagne.
ISMA is also delighted to announce that legendary photographer and La Trinité sur Mer native Philip Plisson is to partner with the regattas. Plisson will not only create a spectacular photographic record of the Annual Regatta at Sea and the World Championship, but will also display a specially curated selection of his extraordinary photographs within the regatta marquee.
The regatta marquee will host all the key social events of both regattas. A full social programme will be published on the event website shortly, but highlights will include the Musto Welcoming Cocktail Party on Friday 29 May, the SNG Cocktail Party to celebrate the Annual Regatta at Sea Prize Giving and open the International Six Metre Class World Championship on Sunday 31 May, a post racing dock party hosted by the owners of Classic Six Lucie, ISMA Chairman Matt Brooks and Pam Rorke Levy, on Wednesday 3 June, a Crew Dinner on Wednesday 3 June and the World Championship Prize Giving and Supper on Friday 5 June.
Alongside the formal social events the regatta marquee will be open daily from early in the morning. Thanks to the most generous support of local suppliers, beverages will be available throughout the day, starting with delicious fresh coffee and pastries first thing in the morning and including beers, wines and soft drinks post racing. For just Euro 40 each, competitors and their guests can purchase an identity bracelet at registration that will entitle them to unlimited beverages throughout the regatta – excellent value at just Euro 5 per day.
